Her Interview
Ten minutes with Jennifer
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to having to work for everything I have and the grit that came from that. Nothing was handed to me. If you want something, you gotta fight for it. You don't just win by standing on the sidelines, you've gotta get in the game and try your hardest.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My current manager pushes me to get uncomfortable but also to be comfortable being myself. Authenticity is key - show up as your authentic self no matter what. Don't perform a certain way or act differently at work.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Find your authentic voice and run with it. Refine your own craft based on what makes you successful. You never feel like you work a day in your life because you're just being yourself.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Some men in high-ranking spots still dismiss women or push back. Women need to have each other's backs and push together when dealing with execs who are behind the curve. The industry is becoming more 50-50 or even female-dominated in some teams.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity is number one - be you whether somebody's watching or not. Teamwork - you can't get anywhere by yourself. Authenticity goes hand in hand with integrity.
