Jennifer Washington is a seasoned higher education operations and business administration leader with over 15 years of experience in university financial operations, business management, and strategic planning. She currently serves as Associate Operations Director for the University Cashier Office at UNC Chapel Hill, where she oversees billing, loans, customer service, and financial operations supporting over 30,000 students. Prior to this, she served as Associate Chair of Business Operations for English and Comparative Literature and American Studies and as Business Officer for the Department of Romance Studies at UNC Chapel Hill. Her earlier career includes roles as Business Service Coordinator for Auxiliary Services and Postal Services Supervisor at UNC Wilmington, where she earned her bachelor's degree. She also served as a Petty Officer in the United States Navy in Gaeta, Italy, supporting the 6th Fleet. She holds a master's degree in management and leadership studies and is pursuing a doctorate in higher education. She is a member of NACUBO and is starting the BRIDGES leadership program in September. Her advice to young women entering the industry emphasizes not holding back, finding one's own professionalism, and relying on an ethical and moral compass rather than fitting into boxes.
