Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jennifer

01What do you attribute your success to?

I care about what I do, I care about the people that I work with and I work for, and my intent is always to do things with kindness and compassion, and figure out how do I make things better than I found them. I'm a caretaker at heart. I'm devoted, growth-oriented, goal-focused, with ambition and drive. I never want to stop growing and learning.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Be kind to everyone, because you never know who may end up being on the opposite end of a desk you're sitting at. Try and learn something new every day.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Explore it all, and not limit yourself. Challenge yourself to work in large organizations, small organizations, try out different industries. Each step of the way, you are going to add tools to your toolbox. Continue to explore, continue to challenge yourself, continue to learn from your wins and losses, and not be afraid to get back up and try again. Never stop growing, never stop learning.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

There are so many opportunities because HR transcends industry. There is a lack of strong, capable, caring people in this field. Challenges include navigating difficult situations when dealing with both employees and employers, maintaining calm and helping both sides through challenges.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that matter most to me in both my professional and personal life are kindness, respect, honesty, loyalty, and compassion. I also believe in giving back to others and showing appreciation, as these values help build meaningful relationships and create a positive impact on the people around me.
