About Jenny
Jenny Bueno Salas is an Associate Attorney based in the Bay Area, California. She was promoted to this role at the beginning of June and mainly handles civil litigation. Bueno Salas earned her law degree cum laude in Venezuela and a master's in financial law, also cum laude, after taking courses at the London School of Economics in international business. She has been licensed to practice law in Venezuela since 2003 and obtained her California bar license in 2026. Before her current role, Bueno Salas worked as a paralegal in immigration and employment law for nonprofits and private firms. She has volunteered with the Justice and Diversity Center since 2017, initially as an interpreter and later as a pro bono attorney with the Special Immigrant Project. She received the JDC's outstanding volunteer interpreter award in 2017 and 2018. She credits her success to determination and the support of family and friends. Her journey began long before moving from Venezuela to the U.S. in 2017, starting a new life and career from scratch while working full-time and studying for the bar exam—a challenging but rewarding experience.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Jenny
01What do you attribute your success to?
My mom would say stubbornness. I started over in a new country from scratch after moving from Venezuela in 2017, passed the bar while working full time despite English not being my first language, with support from friends who dropped off food and emotional encouragement. It took everything but I got licensed and feel back on track.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Life balance, focus on work but don't forget you have family and friends. It sounds like a repeated cliché, but how many of us could say that they actually achieve it
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
It takes time but it will come. Never give up. If you put all the energy and focus on it, there's no limits.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Do the best that you can in every way possible, as a person, friend, family member. Honesty - be honest to yourself and everyone else. Be who you are rather than trying to be somebody else.
