Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success primarily to God, to a commitment to serving others, and to the training and education I’ve received through programs like Leadership Montgomery County and other cohorts. I also owe a great deal to the guidance and support of my mentors and family.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received came from mentors like Margie Taylor, who encouraged me to “go for it,” and coaches like Dr. Bonnie Hoover, who guided me on time management, rest, personal development, and balancing family with service.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this field is to become a server rather than a taker. Focus on serving your community from the heart, discover your creative purpose, and use the skills and opportunities you gain to uplift others—helping them achieve better education, well-being, and quality of life.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is the language barriers and lack of accessible information many recent Hispanic immigrants face, including literacy limitations. The opportunity lies in leveraging bilingual, grassroots media and community partnerships to educate, translate, and connect people to the resources and services they need.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me in both my work and personal life are service, faith, and respect for others. I prioritize community education, non-partisanship, and making sure basic human needs—like food, shelter, and health—are met for those I serve.
