Her Story
About Jenny
I'm a concert promoter at AEG Presents, where I've been working for almost 4 years in the marketing department. I handle all the advertising for different concerts and shows throughout Florida, working with venues in Orlando, Jacksonville, and all the big cities across the state. My journey to this role was winding but driven by passion. After college, I moved to New York knowing I always wanted to work in entertainment. I spent years interning at Broadway advertising agencies, then stepped aside to do digital marketing for a financial website, which wasn't really my thing. I got back into entertainment with Bands in Town, a live concert app that tells you what concerts are coming to your area. When the pandemic hit, I had to shift gears and worked at Amazon for a bit, but I still wanted to get back into live entertainment promotion. That's when I got the job at AEG and decided to move to Florida. I've always had a passion for live entertainment and pop culture in general, and ever since I was a kid, I knew that's what I needed to be doing - being in that realm.

Ten minutes with Jenny
01What do you attribute your success to?
To be honest, I've always had a passion for live entertainment and pop culture in general. Ever since I was a kid, I was just like, that's what I need to be doing - being in that realm. I didn't let anything stop me. What really drove it is I just kind of had this motivation that I was gonna be one of those people in college that said what they were gonna do and actually did it. I had this determination to follow through on my dreams and not just talk about them.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Just keep at it, you know, don't give up. I'm a big Broadway girl, and there's a quote from one of my favorite musicals, Phantom of the Opera: 'Abandon Thought and Let the Dream Descend.' I approached my career with that mindset. There were times when I just took internships when I could have taken a regular job, but I really wanted to work in this industry. Even when I was interning, I was doing jobs on top of that just to make ends meet. So just really dream it, do it. Dream big. As I keep growing in my career, I would love to be able to talk to a college class at some point, because when I was in school in Alabama, I didn't realize there were so many opportunities available. I thought I had to leave in order to do what I wanted to do. Moving to Florida, I realized there are so many opportunities I didn't know were available to still do the type of things I want to do. In college, I didn't realize you can work for a venue and still be within the live entertainment field - I thought I had to get into advertising specifically. I wish I had had that kind of influence when I was in school. The fact that my education wasn't surrounded by entertainment, but because of my passion and interest for it, I was able to turn that into a career.
