Her Story

About Jenny

I've been in the jewelry field for about 10 years, and I've owned my business, Just Mood, for 3 years now. I started out working in boutiques because I've always loved helping women feel confident and beautiful. When I moved to Florida, I worked as a remote office manager and then as an accountant in a moving company, but my heart was always in this work. I love to convert women, to elevate their self-esteem. I think that's my purpose here in the world. I started my business from home, doing everything online, but when people started coming to my house to see the jewelry, I knew I needed a physical store. At first, I thought I would just buy jewelry and do retail, but God had a different plan for me. He said, 'No, Jenny, you need to go ahead, to make jewelry.' Now I make everything myself, and I love it. Every piece is different. Sometimes I make just one to be different, and if you take it, you are a different woman. I handle everything in my business by myself right now - content creation, customer service, accounting, jewelry design - all of it. It's hard being the only person managing the business, but I'm proud of what I've created, especially the content I've made by myself.

Ten minutes with Jenny

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to being honest and professional with my customers. For me, in this business, you have to be honest, be professional, and always be honest with your customer. If something happens, be honest with your customer. That's the reason for the success. I also think it's important to be authentic. All my customers love me - I don't know what I do, but all my people love me. I'm always me, Jenny. Being your authentic self is very, very important. I also believe in just doing your best and not looking back. You have to think on your goals and do your best, and that's it. Sometimes in this world, people don't like your success, and they won't always give you advice or support. But I tell myself, 'You can do it, Jenny. Go ahead. Don't look back, just think on your goals and do your best.'

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Honestly, in this world, it's hard to get any career advice. I've always done everything by myself, so I tell myself, 'You can do it, Jenny. Go ahead. Don't look back, just think on your goals and do your best, and that's it.' Sometimes in this world, people don't like your success, and when someone needs to tell you something for your success, sometimes they don't tell you nothing. It's okay, but just think that you do your best, and if it works, go ahead. That's the advice I give myself and live by.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Work for you. Don't listen to everything - hear your heart. Whatever you want to do, do it. If it doesn't work, go ahead and do other things. But don't keep it just in your mind, because if you don't do that, you don't know if it works or not. Sometimes I say, do it! If it doesn't work, it doesn't matter - do the other thing! If it works, you got it. So do everything you want in your life. Don't keep nothing just in your mind. Don't tell nothing to everybody, just do it. That's the best thing that I want to say right now.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge I face is being authentic to everybody on Instagram and in my business. Staying true to myself while building my brand is something I work on constantly. As for opportunities, I would like to be recognized as a woman with purpose, a woman with a message - not like an influencer or someone famous, but as a woman that sends a message that other women receive and feel. I want to be recognized for the message and the story behind me, not just for hard work. In all my jewelry, I have a story. That's what I want - for people to listen to or see the message. I don't want people to say, 'Oh, I like Jenny because she works hard and does everything by herself.' I would like to be recognized because of the message, because of the story from my background.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

For me, the most important values in my business and personal life are being honest and being professional. I always say my business is professional, and I believe in being honest with your customers. If something happens, be honest with your customer. That's the reason for success. I also value authenticity - always being me, being Jenny. Being your authentic self is very, very important. I believe in empowering women and helping them feel confident. I love to elevate women's self-esteem. I think that's my purpose here in the world. Every woman has a history, and when you hear other women with very hard histories, that inspires me to make the best - to be a better woman, better people, better professional, and better business owner.
