About Jess
Jess Pense is a wellness and healthcare professional based in California with approximately 10 years of experience in the nutrition and wellness industry. She owns and operates her own business, working as a massage therapist and nutritionist. Her professional path includes becoming a yoga teacher, then a massage therapist, followed by certification as a holistic nutritionist. She has also obtained certification in behavioral mental health and is expanding into care management and navigation services to assist individuals with behavioral health issues, Alzheimer's, or dementia in accessing available resources. Jess attributes her drive to her personal history and is passionate about helping others advocate for their health and well-being.

01What do you attribute your success to?
My past is my biggest driver. I had a huge failure when I was younger, but my fears and my failures keep me going. I grew up in an alcoholism and drug addiction family, my mom left when I was young, I got into a bad car accident, hurt someone, went to prison for 2 years. By the grace of God the victim forgave me, and that was my god shot. I have not drank since that day. I decided to take care of myself, became a yoga teacher, massage therapist, certified holistic nutritionist, and now help others with behavioral health and mental health navigation.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My best advice is just take the risk. I was really nervous at first going into starting my own business. Once I just kind of leapt into it, it just started to work out. The biggest advice I could give is just taking a chance on yourself.
