Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jessica

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the sponsors and mentors who have supported me, the relationships I have built through intentional networking, and the importance I place on personal branding and visibility. I have also learned to recognize opportunities and not be afraid to say yes, whether that means accepting a speaking engagement, mentoring others, or stepping into an unfamiliar opportunity. Those experiences have helped me expand my network, strengthen my leadership presence, and continue growing professionally.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Do not rely on your work to show your success. You must actively market your wins, outcomes and business ROI to leadership.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women to network with intentionality across four areas: internal personal relationships, external personal relationships, internal professional relationships, and external professional relationships. Building a strong network across all four areas can create opportunities, provide perspective, and establish meaningful professional relationships. I also encourage women to build visibility by pursuing speaking engagements and to continually strengthen their communication skills. Being seen, heard, and able to communicate your expertise effectively can be an important part of advancing your career.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges is that technology continues to be a male-dominated industry. Women can face additional challenges in navigating workplace politics, combating imposter syndrome, and dealing with assumptions about how they communicate or respond in professional situations. Women may also encounter what I describe as “paper walls”—barriers that are not always obvious but can affect advancement and visibility. These challenges make it especially important for women to advocate for themselves, develop strong professional networks, and maintain confidence in their expertise and contributions.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me are empowerment of others and the next generation, authenticity, dedication, passion, and honesty. I believe strongly in helping others recognize their potential and creating opportunities for people to develop and succeed. I also value being genuine in how I lead, remaining dedicated to the work I pursue, bringing passion to what I do, and maintaining honesty and integrity in my relationships.
