About Jessica

Jessica Bruny serves as a Speech and Language Pathologist at Speech and Swallow Matters LLC, delivering speech and swallow therapy to adults and the geriatric population through partnerships with group homes in New York City. She earned her Bachelor's of Science in Communication Science and Disorders and her Master's of Science in Speech and Language Pathology from LIU Brooklyn before pursuing and completing her Doctorate in Speech and Language Pathology at Adelphi University, which was conferred in May 2026. Throughout her career, Bruny has worked across diverse healthcare settings including short-term and long-term rehab, nursing homes, acute rehab facilities, assisted living, hospitals, and emergency departments. She previously held roles as a rehab director and director of a speech pathology department at multiple facilities, where she also served as a preceptor for graduate students from several universities. Her expertise centers on speech and swallow services as well as professional development and training in oral care for the elderly to improve overall health outcomes. Bruny is a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association and previously participated in the National Black Speech and Hearing Association. She has also achieved top five placements in bodybuilding competitions in 2020 and 2021.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Building relationships is important, especially the patient-clinician relationship. View each patient as a family member or loved one to create the best plan of care. As long as you build an honest rapport, the therapy work gets done.
