About Jessica
Jessica Carmon is a Holistic Skin and Scalp Specialist, Herbal Formulator, and entrepreneur based in the Birmingham, Alabama, area. She has been active in the beauty industry since 2007 and is the Founder of Clean Beauty Bham LLC, a holistic, gluten-free, and allergy-aware spa in Vestavia Hills. Through the business, she provides holistic facials, scalp treatments, and vibroacoustic sound therapy, creating personalized experiences for clients who value thoughtful, sensitivity-conscious beauty and wellness care. Carmon’s philosophy is grounded in the belief that the body is a connected system rather than a collection of separate concerns. Carmon is also the Founder of ReSourced Apothecary LLC, an herbal products and education business established in 2022. She develops teas, flower essences, hydrosols, and personal care products inspired by whole-plant herbalism and shares her knowledge through workshops, sound baths, and the Nature’s Wisdom Podcast. She earned her bachelor’s degree in 2007 and maintains a Master Cosmetologist credential, with areas of expertise that include holistic beauty product development, holistic facials, scalp care, and herbal formulation. Her passion for clean beauty products, along with her genuine desire to connect with and support her clients, continues to inspire her work. Beyond her professional endeavors, Carmon is committed to serving her community and building meaningful relationships. She is a member of the Leeds Art Council and previously served as president of the junior board for the Oasis Counseling for Women & Children nonprofit. Kindness, compassion, and authenticity are values that guide her both professionally and personally. She encourages those entering the beauty industry to recognize that there are no shortcuts, emphasizing the importance of learning the foundations of the industry, obtaining proper licensure, seeking guidance from mentors, and building a strong community network. Outside of work, Carmon enjoys creative crafts and treasures spending quality time with her family and friends.

Ten minutes with Jessica
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to genuinely loving what I do, staying focused and goal driven, and building meaningful connections with my clients. I am passionate about clean beauty products and take pride in helping others discover products that align with their individual needs and values. My enthusiasm for my work, commitment to my goals, and ability to develop strong, lasting client relationships continue to be key drivers of my success.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received came from my mentor, Angela Watson who said "You don't have to reinvent the wheel, you just have to make it prettier." This perspective has taught me to recognize the value in what already works while looking for opportunities to enhance, refine, and elevate it. It encourages me to be creative, think strategically, and focus on adding my own unique touch rather than feeling pressured to start from scratch.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the industry is to understand that there are no shortcuts to building a successful career. Be willing to put in the work, learn the industry from the ground up, and invest in developing your knowledge and skills. Earn the necessary licenses and credentials, seek guidance from experienced mentors, and build meaningful relationships through networking within your community. Most importantly, stay committed to learning, remain consistent, and be patient with the process, because lasting success is built through preparation, hard work, and strong professional relationships.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is the tendency to compare your work, progress, and success to other practitioners on social media. It can be easy to focus on what others are doing rather than staying committed to your own goals and professional journey. At the same time, there are tremendous opportunities to make a meaningful impact, build genuine connections, and create positive experiences for the people we serve. I believe the key is to stay focused on your own growth, continue learning, and use the opportunities available to make a lasting difference.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me, both professionally and personally, are kindness, compassion, and empathy. I believe in treating everyone with respect and understanding, taking the time to listen to others, and approaching every interaction with genuine care. These values guide how I work with clients, colleagues, and the people in my community, and they remind me to lead with humanity and make a positive difference in the lives of others.
