Her Story
About Jessica
Jessica Cornell is a hairstylist and medium based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, who brings together beauty and spiritual services under one roof. With two decades in the beauty industry, including time at three different salons, she built a foundation in haircuts, color, and men’s fades before stepping into entrepreneurship. She later purchased her own home and, on April 5, opened her loft business through Salon Lofts, where she sometimes offers hair services and spiritual readings at the same time.
Her path into mediumship grew out of personal loss and a deep reliance on faith. After losing her partner to suicide, she searched for answers and discovered her own medium abilities. She now offers readings both in person and virtually. Her journey has also included overcoming alcoholism and abuse, and she has been sober for four years, finding purpose in her work along the way. She is a member of The Trevor Project.
Cornell credits her success to faith and determination, which she sees as essential for moving past fear and staying true to one’s purpose. She encourages the next generation to keep learning, stay humble and relatable, and never accept no for an answer. Outside of work, she recharges by attending live music events, reading, spending time with her son, playing with her dog, and taking quiet time for herself, having learned the importance of self-care along the way.

Ten minutes with Jessica
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to faith and determination. Faith has been everything for me. It means facing fear rather than staying small, and it taught me that the limits we set on ourselves are our own, because God has another plan. I had to understand my faith and fully commit to it.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I received was to never stop doing what is in my heart, and that does not mean never pivoting. Sometimes your course changes direction or seems unsuccessful, and that can be hard to accept. You have to keep going, pivot when necessary, and trust your purpose, resonating with what you know you are meant to do.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Never give up, and never take no for an answer. Be patient with the time it takes and with yourself, and never stop learning or growing. Don’t think you know everything. Stay humble, stay real, stay relatable, and stay open.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I would say... paying bills on time ..finances. However....I TRUST GOD N MY BILLS ARE PAID.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Faith is the value I hold most dear. Coming to terms with your core beliefs matters deeply, because it gives your heart and mind something to resonate with, and as you find your faith, it only grows. It is important to know early on whether you are a person of faith or a person of risk and chance, because there is a difference. With great power comes great responsibility.
