Jessica L Costa

Jessica Costa is a highly accomplished wildlife biologist and environmental consultant with over 20 years of experience in avian and bat ecology, wildlife research, and environmental permitting. As a Certified Wildlife Biologist and Project Management Professional, she has led complex projects for Stantec, providing expertise in federal and state permitting, habitat conservation planning, and risk assessments for both wind and solar energy developments. Her work combines rigorous scientific research with practical project management to ensure compliance, safety, and conservation outcomes. Throughout her career, Jessica has built a reputation as a trusted subject matter expert in avian and bat ecology. She has contributed to Environmental Assessments, Eagle Conservation Plans, and construction and operations plans for offshore and onshore renewable energy projects. Her collaborative approach with clients, regulatory agencies, and colleagues has fostered long-term professional relationships and impactful conservation outcomes. Beyond her professional responsibilities, Jessica has dedicated over a decade to volunteering with Maine Audubon, participating in bird surveys and other conservation initiatives, reflecting her deep commitment to wildlife preservation. Jessica earned her B.S. in Biology from Dickinson College and continues to mentor junior staff and emerging wildlife professionals. Outside of her work, she is an avid outdoors enthusiast who enjoys skiing, mountain biking, and hiking with her husband Ian and their dog Oakley.
