About Jessica
Jessica Haddix is a fourth-generation leader in the land surveying industry and serves as the Business Development Manager for Control Point, where she is dedicated to expanding the company's presence throughout Florida while fostering meaningful relationships across the architecture, engineering, construction, and development communities. Surveying has been part of Jessica's life since childhood, as her family's business, McLaughlin Engineering Company, was founded by her great-grandfather in 1938. After spending nearly two decades managing office operations and cultivating long-standing client relationships, she helped guide the company's transition through its 2023 merger with Control Point, allowing the family legacy to continue while embracing new opportunities for growth and innovation.
Built on a foundation of integrity, dependability, and genuine connection, Jessica has developed a reputation for bringing people together and creating lasting partnerships. Her passion for relationship-building extends beyond client interactions, as she actively engages with professional organizations and industry events to strengthen connections throughout Florida's surveying and construction communities. In 2023, Jessica also achieved a significant personal milestone by earning her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Florida Atlantic University. She completed her degree while working full-time and raising her young daughter, who was just three years old when Jessica graduated—a testament to her determination, perseverance, and commitment to continuous growth.
Outside of her career, Jessica is a devoted wife and mother who values family above all else. She credits the unwavering support of her husband, family, and friends for helping her balance the demands of motherhood, higher education, and a growing career. Selected to be featured in the Influential Women 2026 edition representing Florida, Jessica hopes to inspire other women to pursue careers in industries that have traditionally been male-dominated. She encourages the next generation to embrace opportunities with confidence, remain persistent through challenges, and remember that success is built by showing up with honesty, resilience, and a genuine commitment to others.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to having a strong support system, including my family, my husband, and my friends. Their encouragement has helped me through both the successes and the challenges. I also believe that perseverance has been one of the biggest factors in my journey. Even when circumstances felt impossible, I kept moving forward and refused to give up. To me, success truly takes a village, and I’m grateful for the people who have supported me along the way.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to keep going, even during the most difficult moments. I’ve learned that perseverance, consistency, and always doing your best will eventually lead to growth and new opportunities. Challenges are inevitable, but I believe there is always light at the end of the tunnel if you refuse to give up.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice is to never let the industry intimidate you, even if it has traditionally been male-dominated. I’ve seen firsthand how more women are stepping into leadership roles, including project management positions in construction and related fields. If this industry interests you, pursue it with confidence. I truly believe women are capable of achieving anything men can do, and our perspectives and leadership make the industry stronger.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the greatest opportunities in my field is building meaningful professional relationships. Platforms like LinkedIn, along with networking through industry organizations and communities, have created valuable connections that can lead to new career opportunities and professional growth.
One of the biggest challenges is balancing a successful career while also being a dedicated working mother. Managing the demands of work while remaining present for my children requires constant focus and intentionality, but it is a responsibility I value deeply.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me both professionally and personally are relationships, honesty, dependability, and showing up for others. I strive to be genuine in my interactions and to follow through on my commitments. I believe that character and the way you treat people are just as important as professional success, and I try to reflect those values in everything I do.
