Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jessica

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success comes from my kids and myself. I push myself to do better every day while raising my family.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I received was from an old general manager who told me that if you don't take care of your employees and give them the recognition and pay they deserve, you'll gain their loyalty forever and your business will flourish.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

You have to have a strong backbone. When dealing with guests, listen first to their concerns, put yourself in their shoes, and try to defuse the situation instead of escalating it. Make them feel heard so they realize maybe they were just having a bad day.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is finding good, strong employees because it's not for everybody. The industry is fast-paced with lots of complaints and kids running around, and you have to avoid thinking negatively through all the trials.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I value being genuine when speaking to people from all walks of life. I love my job and it shows through my interactions, which is why I get so many positive reviews.
