Jessica Hansen
Jessica Hansen is an accomplished Avionics Technician at Boeing and a proud United States Navy veteran. During her five-and-a-half-year tenure in the Navy, she specialized in maintaining and troubleshooting advanced avionics systems on aircraft such as the P-8A Poseidon and MH-60R Seahawk. Her responsibilities included diagnostics, calibration, and upgrades for communication, navigation, radar, mission, electronic warfare, and flight control systems, ensuring mission readiness and operational excellence. Jessica also demonstrated leadership by mentoring junior sailors, conducting technical training, and fostering a culture of safety and precision within her team.
Following her military service, Jessica transitioned to Boeing through the SkillBridge program, where she further refined her expertise as a Mission Systems Technician. She contributed to critical P-8A modification projects, performing electrical repairs, system upgrades, and troubleshooting while ensuring compliance with FAA, EASA, and company standards. Her work at Boeing reflects her commitment to technical excellence, precision, and collaborative problem-solving, supporting complex aircraft systems and helping maintain the operational effectiveness of military aviation platforms.
Beyond her technical accomplishments, Jessica has demonstrated entrepreneurial and artistic talent, having owned and managed an e-commerce business that created custom pieces for high-profile clients and celebrities. She also holds a certificate in Business Planning from Rider University and is a trained piano major from Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. Passionate about aviation, mentorship, and hands-on technical work, Jessica combines discipline, creativity, and leadership in her professional journey, making her a highly versatile and skilled contributor to both military and civilian aviation operations.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell young women entering my industry not to be afraid of making mistakes, as that is where the greatest learning happens. Maintain clarity and a focused mindset, and always strive to put your best work forward.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest opportunities in my field right now is continuously learning and growing so that I can contribute even more purposefully to Boeing and other aircraft carriers.

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are respect for others, maintaining a positive outlook, staying grounded, and being a strong leader and mentor to those around me.
