Her Story

About Jessica

Jessica Limardo is the Managing Editor at the Pittsburgh Review of Books, where she oversees daily publication schedules for up to five pieces covering art, culture, essays, interviews, and book excerpts while building relationships with Pittsburgh organizations and authors. With 15 years of experience writing in technology and education before pivoting to online publishing, she draws on her MFA from the Writer's Foundry in Brooklyn at St. Joseph's College and her Global Studies degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Limardo attributes her success to the encouragement of family, mentors, and female leaders, and she prioritizes equity by fostering safe, welcoming environments for queer, neurodivergent, and non-binary colleagues. She is committed to mentoring others, particularly women of color and those from marginalized backgrounds, to break down barriers and demonstrate that hard work can lead to meaningful accomplishments.

Ten minutes with Jessica

01What do you attribute your success to?

100% everyone around me. There are so many people in my life growing up that have encouraged me to just try and see if something was possible. My mother of course is just like loved me forever. So many people along the way that have guided me and encouraged me. Meeting other women female butt kickers that are just changing the industry.

02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Equality equity matters a lot. Making workplaces really safe and welcoming for people. We have folks on staff who are queer neurodivergent non-binary. Creating this space where none of that matters just do good work. I'm very human forward I care about the people that I work with.
