Her Story
About Jessica
I’ve been in human resources for nearly six years, with June marking my six-year anniversary. Although I graduated with a degree in marketing, my career has primarily been in talent acquisition. In my current role as a Talent Acquisition Team Lead, I focus on operations recruitment, supporting customer service, fulfillment, and on-site HR teams. I partner closely with hiring managers to identify and attract the best candidates for their teams. My interest in talent acquisition began in college, where I served as a tour guide on the executive board. Part of that role involved recruiting and engaging new students, which sparked my passion for connecting people with opportunities. I later joined my current company as an intern and transitioned into a full-time role after graduation. Since then, I’ve grown into a leadership position and continue to invest in the development and success of my team. One area I’ve become particularly interested in is continuous and process improvement. I’ve developed strong skills in analyzing workflows, leading Kaizen events, and challenging existing processes to identify opportunities for greater efficiency. Over the next five years, I’d like to expand this focus beyond my immediate team and contribute more broadly by supporting improvements across the HR function and other departments, while continuing to build and share that expertise.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Jessica
01What do you attribute your success to?
From an early age, my parents placed a strong emphasis on developing a solid work ethic. My sister and I both started working as soon as we were able to get working permits. It wasn’t anything formal at first, as I worked at my dance studio, but I genuinely enjoyed the experience. Learning responsibility and accountability at a young age helped lay a strong foundation that carried into working during college, collaborating within teams, and ultimately into my professional career.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Recruiting can move very quickly, so one of the most important things is to invest time in your relationships with hiring managers and ask thoughtful questions. Taking the time to understand what they do and what their expectations are helps you see the bigger picture. As a recruiter, you’re not in the role you’re hiring for day to day, so building strong partnerships and gaining that insight will help you stay aligned and set you up for success.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I give my full effort at work, and it’s important to me to be able to celebrate those accomplishments with my friends and family. Maintaining a strong work-life balance is something I value highly. Overall, building meaningful relationships both inside and outside of work is essential. At work, it’s important to have people you can rely on and collaborate with, while in my personal life, I value having a strong support system that celebrates wins with me and provides a space to disconnect and enjoy the moment.
