Her Story

About Jessica

I am self-employed running The Pink Boutique creating and shipping t-shirts while also being an author of a domestic violence trilogy including 'Why She's Staying.' I became published on Amazon as an indie publisher on January 21st this year. My story stems from surviving abuse five years ago which led me to rediscover my feminine side through the color pink after childhood trauma made me hide behind darker colors. I homeschool my four kids and wrote a children's book about bullying during that time. I have an associate degree in business management and am pursuing a bachelor's in applied psychology to become a trauma therapist.

Ten minutes with Jessica

01What do you attribute your success to?

My strength and resiliency since I was a kid. I felt like an old soul and always had the desire to become someone. I owe it all to me and my ability to never give up.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Never give up. You have the ability to create the dream of your life. You could do it. You can make it happen. Just don't give up.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Never stop dreaming. Never stop writing. Never allow anyone to tell you that you are not capable to do anything.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is financial - needing a budget to market yourself, purchase books, create kits, pay for websites and trips. As a self-publisher doing everything myself, it takes time but networking helps.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Loyalty and etiquette. Be loyal to yourself first and love what you're doing. Honesty and family are important but you need to love yourself first and find your own happiness.
