Jessica McGlynn

Group Psychotherapist
Community Services Group - CSG
Lancaster, PA 17601

Jessica McGlynn, MA, NCC, is a dedicated pre-licensed psychotherapist based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, with a strong commitment to advancing holistic and integrative mental health care. She holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Eastern University and brings a distinctive clinical perspective grounded in the mind-body connection. Jessica’s approach emphasizes nervous system regulation, mindfulness, and trauma-informed care, reflecting her belief that meaningful healing often requires addressing both psychological and physiological experiences.
Jessica serves as a Group Psychotherapist at Community Services Group (CSG), where she has worked for nearly four years as a professional, in addition to her earlier clinical internship experience. She provides care within an adult partial hospitalization program (PHP), a critical level of treatment for individuals who require more structured support than traditional outpatient therapy or who are transitioning from inpatient care. The program operates Monday through Friday, with clients attending several days per week for full-day therapeutic programming. In her role, Jessica leads four daily group sessions—two process-oriented groups focused on exploring stressors, symptoms, and individualized needs, and two psychoeducational groups centered on skill-building, resources, and guided discussion. She collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary team that includes fellow therapists, a program director, and psychiatrists who oversee medication management. Through her experience and clinical insight, she has played a key role in shaping the program’s structure and daily operations.
In addition to her clinical work, Jessica draws on her background in dance performance and choreography, holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts and continuing to teach dance in the evenings. This foundation informs her integration of somatic and movement-based practices into therapy, helping clients deepen self-awareness and reconnect with their bodies. After becoming a parent, she returned to graduate school to pursue counseling, further strengthening her commitment to supporting others through life’s transitions. A National Certified Counselor (NCC), Jessica is currently awaiting licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and plans to pursue registration as a dance/movement therapist. She aspires to one day establish a practice that blends psychotherapy and movement, grounded in her belief that the path to healing often involves engaging the body as a gateway to the mind.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say no matter what happens, work on having an internal sense of self-confidence. That's what I have learned through my peers and the supervisors that I have worked with in my time in mental health - just relying upon your own knowledge and being able to be confident in yourself as you practice every day in the mental health field. It is such a subjective practice, and there are so many different ethical guidelines and standards, and I used to get kind of lost in doing it right or wrong. But once you kind of develop a sense, an internal sense of self-confidence that I know what I'm doing and kind of just flying off of that, it has been super helpful. Don't allow that confidence to be deteriorated by self-doubt or asking yourself 'Am I doing the right thing?' The other thing on top of that is relying on the clients as their own experts. That's the biggest thing for me because I learn more from my clients than I did in any textbook. They know what they need, and it's about listening to the clients and meeting them where they are. That's been huge for me.
