Her Story

About Jessica

My journey in healthcare spans almost 20 years, starting from the front desk and progressing through medical assistant roles before becoming a registered nurse in 2017. When COVID hit and I was pregnant with my son, wearing N95 masks and doing surgery while pregnant was overwhelming, so I was recommended to try recruiting. I discovered I was really good at it because I could genuinely relate to healthcare workers, having been one of them myself. I moved into account managing and eventually the MSP world, where I ran one of the largest accounts for Right Sourcing, which was a great company. But I really loved the agency side of healthcare staffing, so I joined Navitas Health, a small family-owned company, where I'm now Vice President of Healthcare. Since I started with them, we've literally tripled our healthcare numbers and really expanded our client base. We're working to win awards, be recognized, and become a preferred partner for MSPs. I'm very hands-on in my role - I still recruit, maintain my own book of business, post positions, talk to travelers, and work directly with my team. I have an open forum platform where I'm always talking to recruiters, checking on things, and staying in the mix regardless of my title. On any given day, I might be working on compliances, onboarding, Joint Commission certification reports, and posting jobs all at once on my 49-inch screen with multiple tabs open. It's honestly a madhouse, but I absolutely love it, especially being able to work from home and touch people nationally.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to consistency, taking ownership mentally, and being able to adapt to changes. Especially being in the healthcare field, you have to understand that markets change, clients change, and priorities shift all the time, so you're going to have to adapt to any means necessary. My relationships are a huge part of it too. I focus on being consistent in everything I do and being able to change at any given point to accommodate certain tasks. That flexibility and commitment to maintaining strong relationships while staying adaptable has really been what contributes to my success in this field.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I live by is 'empowered women empower women.' I'm a huge person for women leadership and women empowerment. In this field, there's a lot of women that will get looked over, and sometimes they have to do everything from A through Z when a man will only have to do A and B to get to the same place. Being able to spread my knowledge as much as possible throughout all the women employees that I have is something I've learned to express and really focus on. Knowledge is key, and knowledge is power, and the more people that have it, the better growth and development you're going to have. I'm absolutely huge into women empowerment and making sure women in leadership positions share what they know.
