About Jessica

Jessica Mitchell is an experienced healthcare professional with more than 12 years of expertise in medical credentialing, billing, and provider enrollment. As Credentialing Manager at B & D Integrated Health Services, she oversees provider credentialing, insurance enrollment, and compliance processes that help healthcare organizations operate efficiently while ensuring providers can focus on delivering quality patient care. Throughout her career, she has developed extensive knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, commercial insurance, CAQH management, patient account administration, and healthcare operations. Her professional journey also includes experience as a licensed early childhood education teacher, reflecting her commitment to service and helping others in multiple capacities.

Jessica has built a reputation for excellence through her adaptability, attention to detail, and ability to navigate complex healthcare systems. She played a significant role during North Carolina's Medicaid multi-payer transition and was selected to serve on CAQH's COVID-19 rapid response credentialing team, where she helped credential more than 80 physicians within 48 hours to address critical hospital staffing shortages. Having worked through the transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10 billing standards, she possesses a rare depth of industry knowledge that enables her to streamline credentialing processes, improve operational efficiency, and support healthcare providers in delivering uninterrupted patient care. She also operates Helping Hands Credentialing, where she mentors professionals and shares her expertise with others entering the field.

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Jessica is a devoted mother, passionate football mom, and talented entrepreneur with a thriving custom design business. She creates personalized apparel, decals, and team merchandise that celebrate athletes, families, and communities across the country. Guided by a strong spirit of service, creativity, and compassion, Jessica aspires to combine her healthcare and education experience by opening a therapy-focused daycare and learning center that integrates educational, behavioral, and therapeutic services under one roof. Her vision reflects her lifelong dedication to improving opportunities for children, supporting families, and making a meaningful impact in her community.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jessica

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success in this field to naturally being a caretaker. My love language is service, acts of service. I go above and beyond assisting people. My due diligence has really made me successful and allowed me the opportunity to be in certain rooms and conversations.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice Jessica received is that not every career begins with a degree. As long as you take pride in what you do, especially in helping others, act with honesty, and demonstrate due diligence by consistently going above and beyond, you can achieve success and fulfillment in your professional journey.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to always do your due diligence. Take every opportunity to learn, but never stop verifying information and expanding your knowledge, as there is no definitive rulebook for credentialing—it is constantly evolving. Stay adaptable, be willing to work collaboratively, and embrace flexibility, as these qualities are essential for long-term success in this ever-changing field.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is the lengthy and detail-oriented credentialing process. Fortunately, tools like CAQH Pro have made it more efficient. My proudest achievement was serving on a COVID-19 rapid response team, where we credentialed physicians nationwide within 48 hours.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I value efficiency, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Having worked on both sides of the credentialing process, I appreciate how systems like CAQH streamline workflows and reduce administrative burdens, allowing healthcare providers to spend more time focused on what matters most—caring for patients.
