About Jessica

Jessica Molavi is a clinical psychology and behavioral health leader with 17 years of experience. After completing a year-long internship at a treatment center during graduate school while pursuing a psychology degree, she began her career there and remained until mass layoffs occurred after approximately 18 years. She now offers consultation to the FBI regarding predatory practices in behavioral health facilities and runs a life coaching business. Her specialties include addressing chronic reenactment patterns of self-harm stemming from unresolved trauma, chronic relapse syndrome, and toxic family and relationship dynamics. She founded the nonprofit HERO, Helping Emergency Responders Overcome, where she served as president of the board, providing training and education to first responders on workplace trauma, substance use, and mental health.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

My clinical director and mentor always said 'Always stay teachable, no matter how long you're in the field for, no matter how much education you have, or letters behind your name, or what you think you already know. Stay open and stay teachable, because there's always new things that we can learn.'

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't compromise your professional integrity. Stay open to working hard. You might not get everything you want right away, but if you work hard for it, you can get to a level that you'd be shocked you ever got to. Trust the process and stay aligned with what you know is right.
