Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I've always loved just putting my ideas in motion. Whenever I have an idea, I always try to utilize that to the best of my ability, being I've always been pretty creative. I try to manage that and make it work, so if I do have an idea that I could strictly put to a painting, then sometimes I say, why not try to make that an illustration? And lately, with the recent thing with my magazine, that ended up being an idea that came into fruition because I just generally wanted to create a whole lot of content. Sometimes it's not just illustrations, sometimes it's recording stuff as well through video, so just everything and everything I could get my hands on and put the ideas out there in some format.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Till this day, I think one of the best things that I was told when I was a teenager, just kind of starting out, was that the worst thing anyone could ever say is no, so don't ever think that there's never a possibility, especially if you don't try it to begin with. You never know unless you try. So, I still apply that till today.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Everyday is a fresh start with even more possibilities. Allow yourself time to grow while giving your ideas time to prosper. Creativity is never limited to the process you know but the continuous practice and effort allotted.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

It's always about coming up with something that is original, or that I know that I could create from my own mind without it being too saturated. The noise that sometimes can happen in the online spaces is a challenge, so I try to keep it as, again, very unique, and again, marketable, and something that could actually cross over in different markets in a way where it can still tell a story, while still having my unique signature to it, to the best of my ability.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My important values are always keeping it as original and unique as possible. I try not to be too apprehensive about trying new things. Even if it means that I don't have the skill set for it quite yet, I can always learn it to some capacity and apply it to something new. So just always keeping it fresh, keeping it going, but always keeping it unique.
