Ten minutes with Jessica
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the purpose I feel when I help someone navigate a difficult moment in their life. Being on the other side of the court system without an attorney can be overwhelming, and I find meaning in helping people successfully prepare and file their documents so they can move forward. I believe I am doing work that aligns with the purpose God has given me, particularly through advocating for underserved members of my community. Knowing that my work can genuinely change someone's life gives me the motivation to continue growing and serving others.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I encourage young women to be consistent, show up, and be willing to learn from every experience, even when the opportunity may not seem ideal at first. Do not underestimate a temporary or lower-paying job because every experience can teach you something that becomes valuable later in your career. Work hard, pay attention to the difficult lessons, and take pride in learning even the parts of the journey that are uncomfortable. Everything you learn can eventually serve you, and your future self will be grateful that you took the time to learn and grow.
