Her Story

About Jessica

I started my career in customer service when I was young, beginning at a gas station and then moving to a liquor store where I worked for three and a half years during most of my college years. I became an assistant manager there for about the last year and a half before finding Raising Cane's. I really liked the career path and opportunity they offered me, so after graduating college in 2022, I decided to go that route. I joined Raising Cane's in October 2023 as a crew member and certified trainer, and I do new restaurant openings for Cane's. I've been there almost three years now and have completed four different restaurant openings in different states. The company takes care of everything - they set up the flight, the hotel, and email me all the information. My typical day involves making sure everybody is maintaining standards and doing SOPs properly, training new crew, and handling regular day operations. I would say my main areas of expertise are professionalism and great customer service. Getting my bachelor's degree in 2022 is my greatest achievement - it was really a trying time and took me a couple extra semesters, but I stayed with it and learned a lot from that experience. Doing new restaurant openings has also helped me grow a lot in learning how things work and being knowledgeable in different facets of the restaurant in every area.

Ten minutes with Jessica

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to God. I've been through a lot - I used to have a lot of mental health issues, and since I've grown my relationship with God, it's just been up from there. Relying on Him and what He can do for your life has just absolutely been amazing.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say just definitely prepare yourself and maintain your professionalism and standards. Know what makes you happy, and do what makes you happy, and do what you love.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I would say the job market in general has been kind of difficult lately. I'm currently trying to move up in the company, but things can be difficult, so that's a challenge I've been dealing with - kind of just at a standstill right now. I definitely think being able to grow in the career or just getting a better career can become difficult, especially when you're already working full-time.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Always be authentic. I don't like being disingenuous, so being genuine is very important to me. I really enjoy trying to maintain positivity in your everyday life and your profession, because that's very important, especially when there's others around. You never know what someone else is going through, so maintaining positivity can definitely help your light shine onto others. I also always keep my focus.
