Her Story

About Jessica

Jessica Schatz is a public accounting professional who has been in her field for a little over a year since graduating with a bachelor's degree in accounting in May 2025. She is currently on the path to obtaining her CPA license, which will allow her to practice as a manager in public accounting. During college, Jessica was actively involved in Beta Alpha Psi, the accounting honor society on her campus, where she participated in networking events and maintained strong academic standards. She also served on the board of her sorority as an assistant chair for philanthropy, organizing events with local businesses. Jessica attributes her success to the unwavering support of her parents, who encouraged all of her career aspirations, and to her college professors, who served as educators, role models, and sources of guidance both inside and outside the classroom. In addition to her professional pursuits, she is a stem cell donor and actively advocates for stem cell and bone marrow donation awareness, particularly for individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jessica

01What do you attribute your success to?

My parents have been incredibly supportive of every dream I've had, never judging my many career aspirations and always encouraging me. My college professors also played a huge role as educators and guidance, serving as role models in and outside the classroom.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Network as much as you can. Talk to a million people, ask them one or two questions, just put your name out there. Take those 5 minutes to have a conversation with someone and ask a question - you never know what advice or opportunities might come from simply saying hey, how are you, I'd love to hear about what you do.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Finding balance between wanting to get ahead and take all opportunities while prioritizing mental health. Mental health often gets swept under the rug, so it's important to advocate for yourself, share what's going on, and utilize company resources while putting yourself first.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Authenticity and being true to myself rather than conforming to what others want. Being honest and loyal, staying true to my beliefs, values, religion, and who I am instead of what everyone else tells me I should be or do.
