Her Story
About Jessica
I started my career in June 2025, right after graduating from the University of Rochester in May 2025 with dual bachelor's degrees in Economics and Brain and Cognitive Science, along with a minor in Philosophy. I work in operations for a startup in the equipment finance space, where I handle a lot of different aspects of the company. My day-to-day involves managing contracts, preparing legal documents, filing UCCs, and providing excellent customer service. Because we're a startup, we're always experimenting with new AI tools and creating new workflows to make the company better. I recently went live with a new workflow that integrated hard coded Javascript nodes and new AI nodes for internal company organization, which I built out myself and pushed out to the team to improve our organization around collections. I've had opportunities to travel with my company to events in the equipment finance space, particularly construction equipment, which is very male-driven, so it's meaningful to be representing women in this field.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
As a recent graduate myself, there is still a lot of that I am learning every day. One piece of
advice that I would give is to not underestimate the value that you add during interactions
with partners and customers. The same way that there is always an opportunity to learn
something from someone else in the business, you also have knowledge and ideas that the
other party can learn from you. Don’t discount that value and approach every interaction as
an opportunity for everyone to learn and improve together.
