Her Story

About Jessica

I was in education for 20 years and reached the pinnacle as Chief of Staff of the Recovery School District. Feeling unfulfilled, I earned my doctorate with a dissertation on forgiveness that became a published book. This sparked my path to becoming a certified Christian counselor, opening my own business, speaking engagements, and leading Bible studies, which has been incredibly fulfilling.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jessica

01What do you attribute your success to?

My faith has guided me. I believe that God has called me to things, and I walk in them. As a believer, we are always supposed to serve other people and have a palatable heart.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

A janitor at one of my schools told me that if you are called into something and it is truly your purpose, you will still love it even when it gets tough. If you no longer enjoy it through the hard times, then that is not where you are supposed to be.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Drown out the noise. As women, we bring so much to our profession - wisdom, discernment, intuition, and problem-solving skills from our experiences. Focus on what we bring to the table and let our talents shine.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Sometimes people stray away from the fact that I am faith-based, which can become a barrier initially, but many come to appreciate the strategies regardless of their beliefs.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honor, integrity, and always being a servant. To be a good leader, you have to be a good servant, build rapport, and respect is earned.
