Jessica Wilson is a skilled electrician and service project manager based in Charlotte, North Carolina, with over four years of hands-on experience in the electrical trade. Currently a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and enrolled in the Carolina Electrical Technical Institute apprenticeship program, Jessica has contributed to major projects, including the construction of a 24-story high-rise. Her technical expertise is complemented by a strong background in project management, safety protocols, and workplace efficiency.

Before transitioning into the electrical field, Jessica built a decade-long career in resort and hospitality management. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Resort and Hospitality Management from Florida Gulf Coast University and a Project Management Certificate from Central Piedmont Community College. Her experience spans front-end operations, POS technology, regulatory compliance, ERP applications like Microsoft Dynamics 365, budgeting, FP&A, and customer service management. Jessica has also earned the Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics (CHIA) and has been recognized as a distinctive alumni by her alma mater for her professional achievements.

Outside of her career, Jessica is deeply committed to community outreach and mentorship, serving on national leadership boards and volunteering with programs supporting children and families. She enjoys skating, traveling, spending quality time with her family, and caring for animals. Jessica’s unique combination of technical skill, analytical expertise, and dedication to service continues to drive her success both in the trades and in her community.

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to always advocate for your next step and be clear about where you want to go. Taking ownership of your growth and planning ahead ensures you’re continuously moving forward in your career.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is navigating a traditionally male-dominated environment. However, this also presents a significant opportunity to break barriers, bring diverse perspectives, and demonstrate leadership in ways that inspire and create more inclusive spaces for others.

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are respect, consistency, and reliability. I believe in treating everyone with fairness and dignity, honoring commitments, and valuing others’ time by showing up punctually and prepared.
