Jessie McDowell is a passionate educator and dynamic leader with over 14 years of experience in the education field, backed by a distinguished military career that shaped her strong foundation in structure, discipline, and organization. Currently serving as the Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at Texas Wesleyan University, Jessie has spent the past year transforming the department through the implementation of strategic frameworks and operational improvements. Her colleagues credit her leadership with making a “180-degree difference,” significantly enhancing support systems for both faculty and administration.

Before entering higher education, Jessie served as an Airborne Radar Technician Instructor and Master Resiliency Trainer in the U.S. Air Force, where she honed her skills in leadership, mentorship, and curriculum development. She later transitioned into K–12 education and instructional design, developing a deep passion for helping educators and students thrive. Her current academic pursuit—a Doctorate in Curriculum & Instructional Design from Liberty University—is set to be completed within the next year, further cementing her commitment to advancing educational excellence.

Outside of her professional achievements, Jessie is a multi-talented individual with a love for woodworking and a deep passion for reading. She believes in lifelong learning, the power of service, and the importance of empathy in instructional design. Whether she’s leading a team, developing impactful learning experiences, or building something with her hands, Jessie brings heart, precision, and purpose to everything she does.
