Her Interview
Ten minutes with Jessie
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to hard work, great mentors, and a willingness to make mistakes but not repeat them.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell young women entering healthcare that ambition and drive are positive things to be celebrated. Do not shy away from sharing what you are working hard on or what you believe in. Hard work and passion are good, and wanting more for yourself, your organization, and your cause is something to pursue without apology.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The pace at which things are evolving is both a challenge and an opportunity. We must prepare executives and boards to be flexible, continuous learners, adaptable, and resilient. Technical skills must be paired with soft skills, and we need to continue educating boards to be responsive and proactive in an ever-changing environment.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Work ethic is key for me - I have made it a personal goal not to ever be outworked in providing a solution. Resilience is important because there is always a path forward. Purpose means understanding the mission or goal we are working toward is worthwhile and positive. Building others up fulfills me when I help people see their potential and strive for personal excellence.
