Her Story

About Jewell

Jewell Salazar is an entrepreneur, marketing professional, community leader, and devoted wife and mother of three whose life is rooted in her faith in Jesus Christ. As founder and CEO of The Social Jewell, an Austin-area marketing consulting firm established in 2019, she uses her passion for creativity, strategic planning, and relationship-building to help businesses and organizations grow. While proud of her professional accomplishments, Jewell believes her greatest success has come from surrendering her plans to God and allowing Him to redefine her purpose.

A graduate of the University of Arkansas, Jewell holds bachelor's degrees in Marketing and Management. Before launching her business, she built a successful career in corporate marketing, healthcare community relations, and business development, holding leadership roles at Baylor Scott & White Health and Lakeway Regional Medical Center. Her passion for leadership began in high school as a state officer with Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) and continued through Leadership Lake Travis, where she later served as a trainer.

The most transformative chapter of Jewell's life began with motherhood. After years of pursuing career advancement, the premature birth of her first child in 2019 shifted her priorities. What initially felt like stepping away from everything she had worked toward became the beginning of God's greater plan. Through that season, she learned to surrender control and trust that His plans were far better than her own.

Rather than abandoning her professional gifts, Jewell founded The Social Jewell, creating the opportunity to continue doing work she loves while prioritizing her faith and family. Today, she balances entrepreneurship with homeschooling her three children and serving as Community Director of her local Classical Conversations homeschool community in Kyle, Texas. Once convinced homeschooling would never be part of her story, she now considers raising her children to know and love Jesus her greatest calling.

Jewell's journey has completely transformed her definition of success. What once meant titles, promotions, and professional recognition now means obedience to God's calling, serving others, and being present for her family. She hopes her story encourages women to surrender their own expectations and trust God's unique purpose for their lives.

"I spent years chasing what the world defined as success, only to discover that God's plans for my life were far greater than anything I could have imagined. I wouldn't be where I am today without Him. My greatest desire is that when people look at my life, they don't just see what I've done—they see what God has done through me."

Above all, Jewell hopes to leave a legacy of faith, love, and obedience to God's calling. Whether serving clients, leading her homeschool community, or raising her three little disciples, her mission remains the same: to know God, make Him known, and give Him all the glory.

Ten minutes with Jewell

01What do you attribute your success to?

Without hesitation, I attribute every bit of my success to God. I wouldn't be where I am today without His guidance, grace, and faithfulness. For years, I chased what the world defined as success—career advancement, recognition, and the next big opportunity. But God had a different plan. Through motherhood, He began stripping away my need for control, reshaping my priorities, and teaching me what it truly means to surrender to Him. What I once viewed as stepping away from my career was actually God leading me into a greater purpose. Today, I have the blessing of raising my three children to know and love Jesus while running a business I genuinely enjoy. I've learned that true success isn't measured by titles, income, or accomplishments, but by obedience to God's calling. I'm still a work in progress, and God continues to mold me every day. My story isn't a testament to what I've accomplished, but to what God can do with a surrendered heart. To Him be all the glory!

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Some of the most valuable encouragement I ever received came from my high school home economics teacher, Marsha Horton. She saw leadership potential in me before I fully recognized it in myself and encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone through Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). That encouragement led me to serve as a state officer and helped build the confidence, leadership skills, and passion for serving others that have carried throughout my career. Looking back, I believe God placed her in my life for a reason. She taught me the importance of recognizing opportunities and having the courage to pursue them. But the greatest lesson I've learned along the way is that just because a door opens doesn't mean God is calling you to walk through it. True success comes from seeking His direction, trusting His timing, and being willing to follow wherever He leads—even when the path looks nothing like what you originally planned.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My greatest advice is to seek God first in everything you do. Don't allow the world's definition of success to determine your worth or the direction of your life. Be ambitious, work hard, stay curious, and never stop learning, especially in an industry like marketing that is constantly evolving. Build genuine relationships, lead with integrity, and use your God-given talents to make a difference. But above all, remember that your identity is not found in your career, your title, or your accomplishments. It's found in Christ. You don't have to have every step figured out, and your journey doesn't have to look like anyone else's. Be willing to step outside your comfort zone, but also be willing to surrender your plans when God leads you in a different direction. You can spend your entire life climbing the ladder of success, only to realize it was leaning against the wrong wall. Seek His will first, trust His timing, and let Him define what success looks like for you.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges and opportunities in digital marketing today is the rapid evolution of technology, particularly artificial intelligence. The industry is constantly changing, and businesses must be willing to adapt, learn, and embrace new tools to remain competitive. However, I believe one of the greatest challenges is ensuring we don't lose the human connection in the process. Marketing isn't just about algorithms, analytics, or creating content; it's about building relationships, earning trust, and genuinely connecting with people. As a business owner, I see tremendous opportunity to help organizations navigate these changes while staying true to their mission and values. My faith reminds me that integrity, authenticity, and serving others should always come before simply chasing results. Technology will continue to evolve, but the importance of relationships and treating people with honesty and respect will never change. I believe the greatest opportunity in marketing is finding ways to embrace innovation without losing the heart behind what we do.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are faith, family, and trusting God to guide my life. I believe in putting God first and prioritizing my family and faith over climbing the corporate ladder. Transitioning from corporate marketing to entrepreneurship taught me the importance of surrendering control and trusting God's direction rather than trying to plan every step myself. These values guide my decisions, shape the way I run my business, and remind me that true success means building a life that aligns with my faith and allows me to be present for the people who matter most.
