About Jihan
Jihan Brifki is an independent contractor focused on nonprofit work in Moorhead, Minnesota. Her education is in political science with minors in management, public relations, and human resources, and she holds a Human Rights Consulting certification. She became a licensed interpreter, providing services locally and with Homeland Security on immigration matters. Brifki founded Hope for Kurdistan, an organization dedicated to supporting single mothers who have lost husbands to ISIS or face dire financial circumstances, having raised over $40,000 to provide housing, salaries, and essentials for families. She has assisted around 3,000 families and purchased over 40 homes through fundraising efforts over five years. Additionally, she works with Prairie Rose Garden on youth summer programs teaching about native plants, food growing, bullying prevention, and leadership, and with the Immigrant Development Center on the Driving for Success project that has helped over 50 women obtain driver's licenses. Brifki serves as a board member with the Presbyterian Church Self-Development of People, secretary and board member for CAP-LP, advisor for the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation, and member of the Lions Club. She initiated a sister city partnership between Moorhead, Minnesota, and Doha, Kurdistan, facilitating medical equipment donations and university exchanges.
