Her Story

About Jill

Jill Haire, MA, LMHC, NCC, CAP, is a licensed mental health counselor, certified addictions professional, author, speaker, and founder of Free Flow Counseling & Consulting and the Relax On Impact™ (ROI) Program. For nearly two decades, she has helped individuals, couples, and families overcome addiction, improve communication, and build emotionally healthy relationships through an approach that integrates psychology, emotional literacy, spirituality, and personal responsibility. Her work is dedicated to breaking cycles of generational dysfunction and empowering people to create lives marked by freedom, authenticity, and lasting connection.

Jill's path to becoming a counselor was shaped by profound personal transformation. After leaving college following her first year, she faced the challenges of addiction and a difficult marriage before committing to her own healing through therapy and a 12-step recovery program. That experience inspired her to return to school later in life, where she earned both her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Central Florida and her Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Webster University, graduating with honors. She spent five years providing grief counseling and emotional support in hospice care before opening her private practice, where she has now served clients for nearly 20 years with compassion, authenticity, and clinical excellence.

As the creator of the Relax On Impact™ (ROI) Program, Jill has expanded her impact far beyond the counseling office. She authored the book Relax On Impact: Empowerment Through Surrender and developed an innovative multimedia curriculum that combines education, storytelling, and practical therapeutic tools to inspire personal growth and emotional healing. Accredited by the Florida Counseling Association, the ROI Program equips counselors, facilitators, and organizations with evidence-based resources for addiction recovery, mental health, and relationship wellness. Through counseling, consulting, training, and public speaking, Jill continues to empower individuals and professionals to embrace healing, strengthen relationships, and live with greater purpose and resilience.

Ten minutes with Jill

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute much of my success to reaching a point in my life where I had to completely rebuild. Hitting rock bottom gave me the opportunity to reflect, grow, and redefine what success truly means. That experience taught me resilience, humility, and purpose, and it ultimately led me to a career dedicated to helping others while building healthier organizations and stronger leaders.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was to stop focusing solely on other people's problems and take an honest look at my own. That perspective reminded me that personal growth is the foundation of effective leadership and meaningful service. By doing my own inner work, I've become a stronger leader, a better advocate, and someone who can support others from a place of authenticity, empathy, and lived experience.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the counseling and behavioral health field is to invest in your own healing before you dedicate yourself to helping others heal. Participating in your own therapy provides invaluable insight into the client experience, strengthens your self-awareness, and helps you show up with greater authenticity, empathy, and resilience. When you understand your own story, you're better equipped to walk alongside others with compassion and integrity.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in behavioral health today is helping clients move beyond anger and toward openness and self-reflection. Lasting progress often requires humility—the willingness to examine one's own thoughts, behaviors, and experiences rather than placing all responsibility on external circumstances. At the same time, this presents a tremendous opportunity for clinicians to create safe, trusting environments where clients feel supported in doing that difficult inner work, ultimately leading to more meaningful and sustainable healing.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide both my work and my personal life are authenticity and a genuine commitment to helping others. I believe people deserve to be seen, heard, and supported without judgment, and I strive to create a space where they feel safe to be vulnerable. Whether I'm counseling clients or building relationships, my goal is to show up with honesty, compassion, and a deep desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those I serve.
