Her Story

About Jill

Jill Martinez is an independent financial services leader, licensed life insurance professional, and Division Leader with Legacy Financial Group, where she is passionate about helping individuals, families, and aspiring entrepreneurs build stronger financial futures. After more than 25 years in the mortgage industry, she successfully transitioned into financial services, bringing decades of expertise in financial analysis, client advocacy, and leadership to her new career. Today, she focuses on educating clients about money management, protection, retirement planning, and long-term financial strategies that empower them to achieve their personal and financial goals. Jill began her career in the mortgage industry in 1998, building an accomplished career as a mortgage underwriter with progressively advanced responsibilities over the next two and a half decades. Following a career transition prompted by a layoff and a move from California to Texas in 2022, she was introduced to the financial services industry through a trusted friend. Recognising an opportunity to make an even greater impact, she embraced a new path centered on financial education and client empowerment. She is currently licensed in multiple states and continues to expand her expertise while pursuing additional investment licensing to better serve her clients' evolving needs. In addition to working directly with individuals and families, Jill is a dedicated mentor and leader who is building and developing a growing team of financial professionals. She currently leads and mentors a team of nearly 50 agents, helping them develop the knowledge, confidence, and leadership skills needed to succeed in the industry. Guided by a passion for education and service, Jill believes that financial literacy is one of life's most valuable tools and is committed to helping others understand concepts that are too often overlooked in traditional education, creating opportunities for greater financial security and long-term success.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jill

01What do you attribute your success to?

I have not been immune from setbacks including multiple layoffs, financial challenges, and health challenges. I am a very resilient person who does not like to be placed in a box, and I want to leave a legacy behind. My experiences changed my perspective. It reminded me that tomorrow isn't guaranteed and that we don't get unlimited chances to build the life we want.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I received is to not worry about what people think about what your current path is, to stay true to yourself, be consistent, serve others and do what you love.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't let the naysayers talk you out of what you feel is your passion. If you love to help others and want to help the next generations have a better life, stick to your beliefs, your goals, and your morals. You can absolutely have the life you've been dreaming of.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Staying consistent and motivated is my biggest challenge because it is a hard industry where you hear no a lot. People are afraid to talk about money, which does a disservice when they don't get proper advice. But, what I found was an opportunity to learn new skills, help families make better financial decisions, and create an additional source of income that wasn't tied to a single employer.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I am a wife, mom, grandmother, cancer survivor, small business owner and resilient leader. My experiences changed my perspective. It reminded me that tomorrow isn't guaranteed and that we don't get unlimited chances to build the life we want. I help motivate and support others every step of the way, and mentorship and support is something I really pride myself on for the agents on my team. I am not at the finish line yet; I am still building, still growing and still pursing bigger goals. My vision is to continue expanding my team of agents who want more for themselves and their families. I am looking for people that are willing to learn, grow, and create options instead of waiting for them.
