About Jillian
I work for a network of charter schools with 18 campuses serving about 12,000 students. My role is to drive strategy supporting young people connected to guns, gangs, drugs, and the court system at the intersection of equity, education, and opportunity. I started as a third grade teacher, taught high school, became a principal and assistant principal, and have been in education for about 20 years. I recently received a meritorious award from the Illinois State Board of Education for my innovative work.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Follow your heart. If you follow your heart, you'll never have to worry about your feet. I was a math major but wanted to be a teacher since age 8. People said not to because teachers don't make money, but I started making six figures before age 30 through education. When you follow your heart, everything else comes with it.
