Jillian Sterns

Jillian Sterns is a seasoned grant writer, fundraising consultant, and lifelong educator based in Denver, Colorado. With a strong foundation in school counseling and a passion for lifelong learning, Jillian brings a unique blend of empathy, strategy, and research-driven insight to her work with nonprofits, schools, and mission-driven organizations. Her professional journey began in the classroom, where she spent eight years supporting students and communities as a school counselor. Through that experience, she developed a deep understanding of how to assess needs, evaluate programs, and secure funding to create sustainable change—skills that now form the cornerstone of her grant writing practice.
As the founder of JLS Fundraising, Jillian partners with clients to develop compelling grant narratives, build funding strategies, and produce high-impact content such as case studies, LOIs, and donor communications. She believes that grant writing is more than submitting proposals—it's about creating a roadmap for impact. Her approach is rooted in collaboration, data analysis, and thoughtful storytelling. Beyond her consulting work, Jillian serves on the board of Art from Ashes, a nonprofit using creative expression to empower youth. Whether through writing or mentorship, she remains committed to helping organizations amplify their voices, secure resources, and turn visionary ideas into measurable outcomes.
