About Jocelyn
Jocelyn Arribas is a real estate professional with nine years of experience spanning sales, management, and development. She began her career in real estate sales as a realtor farming the Central Florida area, where she built extensive connections and sold over twenty-five million dollars in residential real estate over six years. Arribas then transitioned into management, overseeing residential and commercial properties including a low-income tax credit community that reached fifty percent occupancy in under three months with more than three hundred units. Her expertise in management of commercial offices, retail, and multifamily residential properties led her to the development side, where she has led a team converting portions of hotel timeshares into extended stays, implementing operations and project management on track to generate two million dollars. She earned her real estate license through an accelerated online program for the state of Florida completed in eight days and passed the state exam on her fourth attempt. Arribas attributes her success to relationships and connections, passion for her career, and dedication to hard work, while upholding integrity as a core value that guides both her professional and personal life. She advises showing up to networking events, finding mentors, and staying true to one's why in pursuing real estate.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Jocelyn
01What do you attribute your success to?
Relationships are a huge factor. It's big on who you know, who can you connect with. And what follows that is just your passion for your career, the passion and how hard you're willing to work towards your goal. When you make connections with people, they can really see where your heart lies, and people will really help you get to where you want to be.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
To show up. It's really important to make yourself known, to engage in conversation, to be part of rooms that even you don't even know. Listen more than you speak, especially when you don't know you're not the smartest one in the room. You will observe knowledge, and just showing up in rooms and just listening.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
To piggyback off of showing up, showing up to networking events and social events. Finding someone that you connect with the most, a mentor, someone that is an expert in where you want to be. Reflect on what your why is. Why are you waking up in the morning and choosing real estate? Staying true to why are you pursuing this? Because success will lie in true passion for the industry.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
There's a lot to learn in the real estate industry. We're receiving updates all the time on the news, and laws and compliance. It's important for everyone to stay relevant and stay current on what's out there. Be a sponge and try to absorb as much knowledge as possible, because it'll hurt if you don't stay knowledgeable in this industry.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity is a huge one. That lies in both personal and work life, and it will follow you around everywhere. People can see the character that you are, and in real estate specifically, it's all about who you know. Real estate really is a lifestyle, so keeping that in integrity and good and great heart really makes a huge difference.
