In addition to her professional role, Jocelyn is the founder of Beauty Engineered, a personal brand that makes technology and career development more accessible while highlighting the intersection of her beauty and technology backgrounds. She also co-leads From Campus to Career, where she develops resources, partnerships, and opportunities to support first-generation students and early-career professionals as they navigate the transition from education to the workforce. Jocelyn is also committed to community involvement through her volunteer work with Rewriting the Code and her membership in Latinas in Tech, ColorStack, and Tequeria. Among her notable achievements, her personal story and career journey were featured on a billboard in Times Square.
Jocelyn attributes her success to consistently showing up, even when there is no recognition, and to pursuing opportunities without waiting for permission. She encourages others, particularly those from unconventional backgrounds, to embrace the experiences that make them different, focus on building their skills, establish healthy boundaries, advocate for themselves, and seek supportive communities. Through her career, advocacy, and content creation, Jocelyn is demonstrating that success does not require following a traditional path and that an unconventional journey can become one of an individual's greatest strengths.

Ten minutes with Jocelyn
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my commitment to consistently showing up and putting in the work, even when there was no recognition or applause. My determination to remain dedicated, resilient, and focused on my goals has allowed me to continue moving forward and achieve success on my own terms.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received is not to wait for permission to pursue an opportunity. I have learned to be proactive, recognize opportunities, and confidently take the initiative to pursue my goals rather than waiting for someone else to give me permission or validate my potential.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is not to let an unconventional background or career journey make you feel unqualified. Be authentic to who you are, focus on continuously building your skills, ask questions, and seek out a supportive community where you can learn and grow. It is also important to establish healthy boundaries, advocate for yourself, and recognize that the experiences that make you different can ultimately become some of your greatest strengths.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges and opportunities in my field right now is keeping pace with the rapid adoption and implementation of artificial intelligence. As AI continues to transform the way organizations operate, professionals must remain adaptable, continuously develop their skills, and learn how to leverage emerging technologies effectively while navigating the challenges that come with implementing them responsibly.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are integrity, community, resilience, impact, continuous learning, and service. These principles guide how I approach challenges, build meaningful relationships, contribute to my community, and continue growing both personally and professionally.
