Her Interview
Ten minutes with Jodie
01What do you attribute your success to?
"Keep going" has always been our family motto. It came from my grandfather, who believed consistency and persistence would take you farther than talent alone. My mom, who built and ran her own business for 30 years, showed me what that looks like in real life. And my three boys remind me every day that hard work, resilience, and just showing up matter more than getting it perfect.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Bet on people, not titles.
The best opportunities in my career have come from relationships I invested in long before I needed anything in return. Industries change. Job titles come and go. Good people remember how you made them feel and whether you showed up when it mattered.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Stay curious.
Ask the question. Volunteer for the project you know nothing about. Sit in on meetings outside your job description. Learn how the business actually works, not just your piece of it.
You don't have to know everything to add value. The people who grow the fastest aren't always the smartest in the room, they're the ones who never stop learning.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
AI is the biggest challenge and the biggest opportunity in marketing right now. The hard part isn't creating more content, it's creating content that's actually worth someone's time.
The marketers who win won't be the ones using AI to think for them. They'll be the ones using it to move faster, while bringing their own experience, strategy, and perspective to the table.
Marketing has never stood still. The best thing you can do is stay curious, keep learning, and don't get too comfortable.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity is everything. Do the right thing, especially when no one is watching. Be honest, own your mistakes, and be transparent when things don't go as planned. That's how trust is built.
I'd also say curiosity. It's shaped just about every step of my career. The more questions I've asked and the more willing I've been to learn, the more opportunities have found me.
