About Jodie
Jodie Weber is a second-generation business leader, construction executive, and advocate for women in the building industry who serves as Chief Executive Officer and sole owner of Federal Engineering & Testing, Inc.. Based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, she assumed ownership of the family-founded company in 2020 during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, continuing the entrepreneurial legacy established by her father in 1989. Although she originally envisioned a career in marketing and graphic design, Weber discovered a passion for the construction and geotechnical engineering field and has spent more than 15 years developing her expertise by working her way through nearly every level of the organization. Today, she leads a WBENC- and WOSB-certified firm recognized for its geotechnical engineering, materials testing, and construction-related services throughout South Florida.
Throughout her career, Weber has built a reputation as a hands-on executive who combines operational leadership with technical knowledge and team development. Having progressed from marketing coordinator and project estimator to operations management, vice president, chief operating officer, and ultimately CEO, she possesses a comprehensive understanding of both the technical and business aspects of the industry. She remains actively involved in daily operations, overseeing project execution, financial management, payroll, team building, and strategic planning. Her leadership philosophy centers on continuous improvement, professional development, and creating a collaborative workplace culture that supports both employee growth and organizational success.
Beyond her executive responsibilities, Weber is a dedicated community leader and industry advocate. She serves as President of NAWIC Greater Fort Lauderdale Chapter 78, Vice Chair and Board Member of BBB Serving Southeast Florida and the Caribbean, and a Board Member of the Greater Pompano Beach, Margate & Lighthouse Point Chamber of Commerce. Through her involvement with organizations such as NAWIC, the National Women in Roofing, and various business and civic groups, she champions opportunities for women in construction and works to strengthen industry relationships throughout the region. A lifelong learner, Weber values practical education, specialized industry training, and leadership development, believing that continuous professional growth is essential for long-term success in business and construction.

Ten minutes with Jodie
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a strong drive and determination to achieve my goals, a commitment to maintaining high standards, and a hands-on approach to my work. I view challenges as opportunities to learn and grow, and I remain focused on finding solutions rather than dwelling on obstacles. Equally important is the support and feedback of my team, whose dedication and insights have contributed greatly to our success. Through open communication and continuous collaboration, we are able to improve processes, strengthen the business, and achieve our goals together.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received came from my father: “Water off a duck’s back.” Throughout my career, especially while working in a male-dominated industry, I learned not to let criticism, negativity, or difficult people affect my confidence or focus. That advice taught me the importance of resilience, perspective, and moving forward without carrying unnecessary burdens. As a business owner, I’ve found that the ability to let things go and stay focused on what truly matters is essential for both long-term success and personal well-being.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to never let anyone tell you what you cannot achieve. Don’t allow gender stereotypes or limited expectations to define your potential. Stay determined, keep pushing forward even when opportunities seem scarce, and trust in your abilities. Persistence and resilience can open doors that may not seem possible at first. Most importantly, believe in yourself, remain focused on your goals, and never give up.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest opportunities in our field is the continued growth of the construction and engineering industry, along with the ability to leverage technology and AI to improve efficiency and streamline operations. I see AI as a tool that enhances productivity and supports people rather than replaces them. At the same time, the industry faces several challenges, including inflation, rising costs, rapidly evolving technology, and increasingly complex regulatory requirements and local building codes. Successfully navigating these challenges requires organizations to embrace innovation while maintaining operational efficiency and delivering high-quality results.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The value that is most important to me, both professionally and personally, is integrity. I believe that trust, honesty, and credibility are the foundation of every meaningful relationship, whether in business or in life. Maintaining integrity in my actions and decisions helps build confidence, strengthen relationships, and establish lasting respect. In my view, without integrity, it becomes difficult to earn and maintain the trust that is essential for effective leadership and long-term success.
