About Johanna
I started my marketing career about 12 years ago as an account manager at a digital agency. When I started, they asked me if I knew what SEO meant, and I said nope - that was really the beginning of my love of marketing. I learned all about search engine optimization and worked with talented teams doing web design, creative, social media, and paid Google marketing. By the time I left that role, I had become the director of client services, overseeing all the account managers and working on marketing retention and putting together marketing strategies for different clients. One of my clients reached out and asked if I would help them build out their own marketing department, which gave me hands-on experience putting together a marketing team. In that role, I got to work in more traditional areas of marketing like print advertising, TV, and radio in addition to digital marketing, which gave me a well-rounded perspective. I've also worked extensively in project management, which just sort of comes naturally to me in every role. I made the leap into higher education and have been in that field off and on for about 5 or 6 years. I love giving back to students and feeling like my marketing has a deeper purpose. I'm a jack-of-all-trades - my day-to-day involves social media, creative design, and project management. I also do a lot of photography, and I've been very happy that my photography background has complemented my marketing experience. One of my favorite things about marketing is that you never know what the day's gonna bring.
