Her Story

About Jolee

Currently I am a freelancer and Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP). I consult with various small businesses providing a range of services in social media, marketing, brand strategy, professional organization, graphic design, and more!

I went to Principia College for a bachelor's in mass communication (with minors in sustainability and sociology/anthropology). After working for a year as a post-grad teaching intern at Principia College, I earned my nutritional therapy certification in 2021 while also working for a start-up company that specialized in sustainable, plant-based meat products. I later worked at a fast-paced health tech startup for a few years, and learned a lot about myself and during that time. I am grateful for all experiences that have brought me to where I am today.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jolee

01What do you attribute your success to?

My parents who raised me, the majority of my teachers K-12, dance instructors, girl scout troop leaders, many talented college professors at Principia, and my nutrition instructions at the Nutritional Therapy Association.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Doing something you're passionate about is so important because it doesn't matter how much money you make if you're miserable at work.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

If training to be a nutritional therapy practitioner, it's good to have a "main income source" that you can rely on while you build your practice and figure out what you want to niche in. It is very hard to start a business from scratch while making a consistent income each month. Having a reliable part-time/full-time job is a game-changer! It can also force you to learn skills you normally wouldn't have learned.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is running a business and putting in time to make it full-time. Many practitioners (such as myself) start because we've dealt with significant health challenges that have benefitted by integrating holistic strategies and working with qualified practitioners.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

In work I value making a difference and avoiding busy work, inefficiency, and drama. I want to help people change their lives for the better. I like being realistic, respecting budgets, and not pressuring clients into expensive supplements.
