About Jolie
Jolie Whitehead is a public finance and policy professional with about three years of experience. She began her career with the Voluntary Income Tax Assistance Program, where she filed taxes for low-income people, which sparked her passion for public service. She then pursued graduate studies and worked for New York State in both the legislative branch, serving an Assemblyman of Ways and Means where she handled budgetary and tax legislation, and the executive branch, calculating fiscal impacts of tax policies for the governor. More recently, she founded JW Academic Consulting, an academic admissions consulting firm, and has worked as a teaching instructor in finance at UC San Diego and UC Berkeley, mentoring students and small businesses on financial strategies. She holds a bachelor's degree in economics and political economy from UC Berkeley, completed a fellowship at Princeton University studying statistical methods and public policy, earned an MPA from Cornell University, and served as a junior visiting scholar at Oxford University. She also earned a bilingual certificate in Spanish.
