About Joni
Joni Boyd is a professor at a university in Rock Hill, South Carolina, where she has taught for approximately 20 of her 25 years in the field of nutrition and exercise science. She earned her bachelor's degree in exercise science from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and went on to complete a master's degree in sports administration and fitness administration from Winthrop University in 2007, followed by a PhD in exercise science around 2013 or 2014. Boyd later obtained two additional master's degrees from Winthrop University, one in learning design and technology in 2021 and another in nutrition in 2020, and recently earned her registered dietitian credential. In addition to her academic role, she works as a strength and conditioning coach, particularly with track and field athletes, and as a performance dietitian, providing nutritional guidance for health and performance. She also manages a coaching business focused on exercise and nutrition, secures grants for exercise programs in skilled nursing facilities, authors textbooks, and engages in consulting projects. Boyd is actively involved in professional organizations including the National Strength and Conditioning Association, where she was named State Director of the Year in 2024, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, from which she received a fellowship award, and the American College of Sports Medicine.
