Her Story

About Jonna

Jonna Scoggin, MHA is a healthcare executive with more than 15 years of experience in business development, strategic growth, and relationship-driven leadership across the post-acute care continuum. She currently serves as Vice President of Business Development at NewGen Administrative Services, where she leads regional growth strategy and market expansion efforts across Southern California. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with hospitals, physicians, health systems, and executive leadership teams to strengthen referral networks, improve access to care, and support sustainable organizational growth across skilled nursing, home health, hospice, and non-medical home care settings.

Her career began in senior healthcare in 2011, where she entered the industry without prior experience and quickly developed a passion for connecting patients and families to the care they need. Starting as an individual contributor working directly with hospital case managers and clinical partners, she steadily advanced into leadership roles at the local, regional, and national levels. In these roles, she has led high-performing teams focused on census growth, market development, and building strong, collaborative partnerships across the healthcare system.

Jonna holds an Executive Master of Health Administration from the University of Southern California, a Master of Arts in Counseling from Azusa Pacific University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Communication Studies from California State University, Fullerton. Her leadership philosophy emphasizes trust, consistency, and strong relationships as the foundation for results. Outside of her professional work, she is a dedicated wife and mother of two, actively involved in supporting her children’s soccer and flag football activities, while maintaining a strong commitment to health, fitness, and lifelong learning.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jonna

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success primarily to my father, whose consistent encouragement and support have been my foundation. As a woman working in environments where I am often the only female in the room, his guidance helped me build confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of self. Even now, I continue to draw strength from the values he instilled in me as I navigate and grow in these spaces.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received came from a sales manager and focused on handling interpersonal and inter-organizational conflict. She consistently encouraged direct communication, often asking, “Did you speak with that person?” when concerns were raised. That simple question taught me the importance of addressing issues directly with the individual involved, rather than allowing misunderstandings to escalate or relying on others to resolve them.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I enjoy supporting younger women and new mothers entering the industry by serving as a role model and offering guidance as they navigate their careers. My advice is to stay confident in your abilities and know that there is a seat at the table for you. With determination, support, and self-belief, you can build a meaningful place for yourself in this field.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in my work and personal life are family, health, and balance. As a full-time soccer mom, my kids and their club soccer commitments are my top priority. I also focus on staying active and maintaining a healthy mind and body through regular workouts and race training, which keeps me motivated and grounded.
