Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jordyn

01What do you attribute your success to?

I was fortunate to have a support system that encouraged my natural curiosity. That constant questioning led to an insatiable pursuit of knowledge and contributed to openness to new opportunities and experiences.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received mimics the best life advice I've ever received: trust yourself, listen to your gut, follow your instincts. That's wildly intangible advice to follow when you're starting out, but as I've grown in my career, I've realized the true differentiator is your authentic self. Life comes from you, not at you.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

No person on the Earth knows everything about everything. Lean into questions and strive to learn 'The Why'. Notice what you do and don't like and write it down. Notice where you excel and notice what doesn't feel as comfortable. Ask why, write it down. Critical thinking is the most important first step, the next is to learn how to present to your specific audience.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One in the same - AI. Young professionals are entering an entirely new job market. While the growth-rate of AI is undeniable, it will take time to establish a new normal. AI has merit for things like brainstorming and bouncing ideas, but critical thinking and discernment will always highlight true talent.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

This is a two-pronged approach that can be summed up with the word 'nourishment'.

Nourish Your Body

You've heard a flight attendant say, "Secure your oxygen mask before helping others." Or "You can't pour from an empty cup". In business and personal life, a human-first mentality is extremely important. Maslow's Heirarchey is another great example. In order to thrive, you first must first feel safe and secure.

Nourish Your Mind

Professionally and personally, the ability to grow, learn and create are extremely important to me. I do not mean 'growth' in the sense of career advancement necessarily, I am referring to the trust that comes with constructive ideation, elevation and creation of new spaces.
