Josefina Marisela Frank
Josefina Frank is a dedicated tribal leader and community advocate, currently serving as the Tribal Chairwoman for the Bear River Band of the Rohnerville Rancheria. Since assuming leadership in April 2020, she has been instrumental in advancing initiatives that strengthen the tribe’s governance, community programs, and cultural preservation. Her commitment to her community is grounded in a deep understanding of the needs and aspirations of her people, ensuring that every decision she makes supports sustainable growth and well-being. In addition to her leadership role, Josefina has an extensive background in social services and youth development. She has worked with Changing Tides Family Services for nearly nine years, serving as a Resource and Referral Supervisor and Child Care Food Program Supervisor. She also brings experience from her work with the Bear River Band of the Rohnerville Rancheria, where she managed youth programs, elder nutrition services, child care development funding, and grant administration. Across all these roles, Josefina has consistently demonstrated her ability to manage programs, lead teams, and create meaningful impact for families and children in her community. Josefina holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Psychology and an Associate of Science in Psychology from the College of the Redwoods. Her educational foundation complements her practical experience, enabling her to approach leadership and social service with insight, empathy, and strategic thinking. With skills ranging from people management to program oversight, Josefina continues to be a driving force for positive change within her tribe and the broader Humboldt County community.

I attribute my success to the challenges I’ve faced along the way, as they have shaped my resilience and perspective. I dedicate my support to my children, ensuring I lead by example and empower them to pursue their own paths. This commitment also strengthens my ability to serve and lead my community effectively.
