Her Interview

Ten minutes with Joseline

01What do you attribute your success to?

My family, definitely. I am a childhood immigrant, and all they've known is hard work. Seeing the resilience and the persistence that my parents have taken to get to where we are today has set a really great foundation for me to follow in those same footsteps. So, I definitely owe it all to them, for sure.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

People with half their potential are doing your dreams, so continue to show up. A lot of the times, we get in our heads, and really undervalue what we can bring to the table. So, showing up with what you have and a good attitude and continuing to show up can go a lot further than what you initially think you can go.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Stay true to who you are, and don't let the bad days get to you. It's very easy to feel imposter syndrome... don't let that intimidate you. I think it should motivate you, because It's a privilege to be the first of To set a foundation and to be that first person to open the doors for the next generation to come.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Being outnumbered and underrepresented in a very male-dominated industry. I wish there were more women. I think I'm the only woman on my team in operations. There's not a lot of people my age. Being in a very male-dominated industry can be very intimidating sometimes, and very lonely.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Authenticity and resilience. Continuing to show up every day, and do the best that you can do every single day, despite whatever roadblocks are in your way. Authenticity, because I think it can be easy to lose yourself, in a very male-dominated industry... making sure that everybody's okay before you. It attracts the right people, and it gains the trust of the people that you work with as well.
